Community Conversation on Race Relations in America
Uplift Community High School and Uptown Church partner together twice a year to host a public conversation for the neighborhood. Each discussion features a diverse panel of powerful and intelligent voices that help us address issues we face as a community.
Our panel will discuss the idea of race as a social construct and talk about ways we can improve our connections, deepen our relationships, and build stronger communities. Our panelists will also share their thoughts on how we can collectively address issues of equality, ensuring that all ethnic identities are valued as an integral part of the fabric of our community, city, and nation.
PANEL INCLUDES
Tuyet Ngo - Vietnamese Association of Illinois
Dr. David Stovall - University of Illinois Chicago
Jacinda Bullie - Kumba Lynx Chicago
Suzanne Akhras Sahloul - Syrian Community Network
Uplift Students will be creating original artwork to be on display during the event and students involved in Kumba Lynx will be performing.
