Later this year, the office of Uptown United and Business Partners, The Chamber for Uptown will move down the block to 4619 North Broadway.
We are on the move! We will miss our sweeping views of Uptown from the eighth floor of the landmark Sheridan Bank & Trust building at 4753 North Broadway, but we’re excited to have more space and be more accessible.

New Office Storefront Rendering
Later this year, the office of Uptown United and Business Partners, The Chamber for Uptown will move down the block to 4619 North Broadway. Why move? Our members and boards of directors have discussed a storefront office for years, so that we’re more accessible and visible to the community. We also need more space for our team and for our programs. The new office will feature a flexible office environment plus space for gatherings, small events, and meetings. We’re so excited to be neighbors with Futasuki, Iyanze, Elim, Uptown Bikes, and all of the other great folks on the block.
Our organizations are excited to invest in the community and in our incredible staff by providing a state-of-the-art storefront work and meeting space. Uptown United has owned this property for several decades. The organization will completely renovate the first-floor office space and storefront, as well as do important maintenance work on the building. The new office will be easy to find, ADA accessible, and mere steps from the Wilson Red-Purple Line stop. Our move wouldn’t be possible with our partners: to our architects at SmithGroup, our contractor Lo Destro, and our lenders at Wintrust. Thank you to our boards of directors for leading us through this transition. Another thank you to Landmarks Illinois for awarding us a COVID-19 Organization Relief Grant to assist with our renovations of this landmark property.
SmithGroup partnered with Uptown United to create an art installation that announces the move to the new space. Incorporating past photography and mirrors to reflect the present, the installation depicts how the Uptown community is powerful when United. This art installation will be installed at 4619 N Broadway as part of the Uptown Arts Weekend, July 31-August 2nd.
We will remain at our current address: 4753 N Broadway, Suite 822, until we move in late fall. Due to COVID-19 our current office is closed to the public, but you can always reach us by phone and email. When we complete our move and are open to the public, we will let you know!
What’s going to happen to our friends at the architecture firm MDT? Don’t worry, they’re just moving a few doors north. MDT has been working with the property owner of 4629 North Broadway on a historic restoration of this property, and they’ll be moving their offices to that property. Read below for more details from MDT.
