Uptown United’s Board of Directors welcomed two new board members and elected a new board chair.
Uptown United’s Board of Directors welcomed two new board members at their April board meeting and they elected a new board chair. Tuyet Ngo and Andrew Bell will be joining the board. Veteran board member Jacqueline Loewe will serve as the new Board Chair, as long-time board Chair Suellen Long retires from her position at Bridgeview Bank.
Jacqueline Loewe is an Uptown resident and owner of Sheridan Park Consulting. She has served on Uptown United’s Development Partners for more than twelve years, and has served as its Vice Chair for Development Partners during the last eight years. Jackie and her wife moved to Sheridan Park in 2000 and have spent that past nineteen years restoring an original James Gamble Rogers-designed home on Dover Street. She was actively involved with a group of neighbors to create the Dover Street Landmark District, and currently serves as the Dover Street Neighbors Association’s Landmark Committee Chairperson. Jackie worked with then Alderman Shiller to create a pocket community garden on the 4600 Block of North Winthrop Avenue, called the Winthrop Family Historical Garden, which sits on a once vacant lot. Jackie has led several committees involved with local development projects, including the Wilson CTA station redevelopment. In 2010, Jackie chose Sheridan Park Consulting as the name for her business-development consulting firm serving the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. Uptown’s essence has always been one of honoring our past as we move forward. Jackie Loewe has been both the protector of our history and an architect of our future. She was a 2016 Soul of Uptown Award recipient. The Board of Uptown United is thrilled to have Jackie’s thoughtful leadership at the helm of the organization.
