WBBM Reports on Truman College Cultivating Minority Men as Teachers

Statewide, statistics show fewer black and Latino college graduates major in education than ever.
“Male teachers across the board are pretty much extinct,” said Shawn Jackson, President of Truman College.
That’s why Truman College is launching the Men of Color in Education program, which is designed to encourage and support men that are minorities to enter the field of education.
“Having the opportunity to encourage others to get into a really noble profession and empower their communities is what this initiative is all about.”
