CHICAGO, IL — Uptown United and the Uptown Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce Sarah Wilson as their new Executive Director. Sarah succeeds Martin Sorge, who held the position for five years. For the past eight years, Sarah has worked as an economic development consultant, program manager, and City economic development coordinator, leading and managing strategic planning, marketing, business outreach, and fundraising functions. Most recently she has worked as Uptown United’s point person, supporting local businesses during the CTA’s Lawrence-to-Bryn Mawr Modernization Project. Sarah is excited to transition into the role as Uptown continues a dynamic slate of events and programming this fall, including its annual fundraiser, Casino Uptown.
“Uptown United is looking forward to Sarah’s strategic thinking and passionate commitment to Uptown’s sustainable economic growth,” said Jackie Loewe, Uptown United Board Chair. “Sarah’s experience in City planning, one-on-one business outreach and her results-driven approach make her a great addition to an already strong team,” added Stephanie Foerster, Uptown Chamber Board Chair.
Wilson brings over eight years of experience in urban planning, outreach, and non-profit management. She holds a Master of Community Planning and Economic Development and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She has served on the Women in Planning and Development Board and the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee. She lives just north of Uptown in Edgewater with her family.
“I’m thrilled to be working alongside such a talented and creative team. Together, we will continue to build and nurture a diverse and thriving Uptown,” said Sarah.
