The Uptown Chamber of Commerce hosts and co-hosts dozens of events geared towards assisting local businesses owners. State of Uptown     

The annual State of Uptown luncheon gathers Uptown’s business, development, and non-profit community to hear from city officials about how their work impacts our community.

 

Grand Openings / Ribbon Cuttings    

Celebrate with your neighbors – after becoming a member of the Uptown Chamber of Commerce, the next most important step is inviting the right people to your grand opening.  The chamber team is well equipped to recommend timing, procedure, and strategy for a celebration.  Don’t fret; we have a pair of giant scissors.

Happy Hour Neworking            

Uptown is full of spots to meet with clients and comrades after the clock strikes five.  Or. . . whenever you see fit.  Engage with fellow members at new watering holes, or accept the hospitality of experienced hosts in Uptown who may want open up their doors and welcome old friends in for a round.  Open to members and non-members.   

Structured Networking 

Meet for a quick “hi, how do you do?” at a local diner or lunch spot.  Uptown’s structured networking events feature custom placemats with attending members’ headshot and contact information.  Doesn’t get much easier than that.   Open to members and non-members. 

Women’s Networking 

Who runs the world?  In Uptown it’s women.  We celebrate the incredible depth and entrepreneurial spirit of women in Uptown on a quarterly basis.  Open to members and non-members. 

Non-Profit Networking 

One quarter of the membership of the Uptown Chamber of Commerce is non-profit.  Social service providers, educational institutions, cultural, religious, and healthcare institutions, performing & creative arts. . . the Uptown Chamber of Commerce is proud of the non-profit community and provides ample space and time for connecting with peers.

Northside Networking Group 

Five times a year the chambers of Uptown, Andersonville, Edgewater, West Ridge, and Rogers Park take turns hosting an 80-person, round-robin, speed-networking event at a local restaurant.  You’ll receive a scanned copy of the business cards of all attendees and walk away with a lot of new contacts.

New Member Reboot            

So you’re a new member and you need to figure out the website, street festival, parking rules, situation with the CTA, and how to manage a sign permit while balancing a loading zone in a TIF just outside of the SSA. . . don’t worryGet set straight with a quarterly session and learn from your peers.   

Tech & Policy Updates 

From commercial property tax appeal to technology updates that will save you time and money; your fellow chamber members, local dignitaries and civil servants are will de-mystify the present.  You’ll also be invited to neighboring chambers’ similar programs.   

Social Reboots 

Uptown is known for having one of the most diverse populations in the City and we’re proud of our character.  To know Uptown is to love Uptown – This workshop teaches business people the new norms of intercultural living and life beyond the traditional concept of gender.  Treat your neighbors with respect and benefit from the good will cultivated through patience and understanding.
