The 4th Annual Uptown Art Week returns June 1st – 4th, 2023. This event showcases Uptown’s public art scene and features new murals going up on walls around the neighborhood, art exhibits being hosted by local businesses, the two-day Uptown Art Fair, interactive art activities for all ages, and the Clifton Avenue block party.
NEW PUBLIC MURALS
27 new murals ranging from 3000 sq ft to 16 sq ft will be added to Uptown’s growing and unique public art scene. Locations include Cornerstone Community Outreach, The Lawrence House, Portrait, and the continuation of last year’s Graceland Walls and Yard Walls projects.

The Uptown Art Fair at Chicago Market will feature artwork for viewing and purchase from local artists. Drop by the Art Fair anytime between the hours of 10:00am – 4:00pm on June 3rd and 4th at 4620 North Broadway.
GIVEAWAY ALERT! Stop by the Uptown booth at the Uptown Art Fair to pick up a Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago complimentary admission pass which admits 2 people for general walk-up admission, $30 in value. On June 3rd, Clifton Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic between Wilson Avenue and North Broadway and interactive and family-focused art activities, treats, live music, and games coordinated by Cornerstone Community Outreach and Uptown Church with contributions by Alden Lakeland and CircEsteem. *DON’T MISS* the interactive street mural led by Paint the City – all are invited to help create!

ARTFUL MOVEMENT
Presented by Yoga Body Elements & The Northern Loon

Blue. Red. Yellow. Purple. Green. Pink. Imagine these colors swirling around you as you reach toward the sky and swoop your limbs along the grass. As part of Uptown Art Week, local yoga studio Yoga Body Elements and local artist The Northern Loon present “Artful Movement: An Art-Infused Community Yoga Practice”. For the third year, participants will wear colorful ribbons on their limbs as they are guided through an outdoor vinyasa practice. This year, an abstract painting tracing the movement of the practice will be live-created by The Northern Loon. At the end of the practice, the piece will be broken down into 5x7” original pieces of art that each participant can take home with them as a reminder of the part they play in creating artful movement.
